THE FIRM
25 Years Young!
Late
last year Andrew Rogers Lawyers celebrated its first 25 years
of practice at Morphett Vale.
When we first started out it was just Andrew Rogers and Kathy
Wheatland. Andrew was 25. We were in an office in the Westpac
Bank Building. This was in the Old Days when there were a
number of banks in Morphett Vale. We did everything –
from business, to car accidents and neighbourhood disputes.
You name it, we did it.
We moved to our current premises on the
corner of Main South Road and Bains Road in 1982. And despite
having been on this corner for so long, and having had some
fairly prominent signage, we still find that when we tell
people that “we are next to Bonnetts – the yellow
building with a horse” they know exactly where we are!
Very early on we decided that we didn’t
want to be a general legal practice and we focused on particular
areas of law and helping particular groups in our local community.
Most of our clients own local businesses. And boy have there
been some changes there. Whole industries have been and gone
– while other industries have really taken off and had
spectacular success. Who had heard of franchising or the IT
industry 25 years ago? Over 25 years we have been with clients
at all the different stages of their journeys; from starting
out, the highs (and lows) of day to day business through to
finishing up. At present we are doing quite a lot with clients
who have decided that it is time for them to think about retirement
(and with the people who want to take over their businesses).
We’ve had some great staff and good
times here over the years, and some “interesting”
times. We have also been very fortunate with our clients.
You will be pleased to hear how much we enjoy working with
you, what an interesting array of challenges you present us
with and how much we like to celebrate your success. And we
have a great respect for the other professionals who advise
our local clients.
We’ve also become part of the local
community through our support of many associations and charities.
So, we’re looking forward to the next 25 years. We’ve
gone from typewriters and carbon paper at the start through
to the indispensable computer and email. Who knows what we’ll
be doing then.
Silent Achiever - Adelaide Advertiser Article
Our
Yeeha story congratulating ourselves (ARL
Newsletter - Nov03) on our Certification and our recent
successes seems to have caught the public imagination. Or
at least the attention of the Editor responsible for the Silent
Achiever column in Saturday’s Advertiser. And it also
featured in the Law Society Bulletin.

Personal Service

We are a small firm. So it is impossible not to get personal
service! And it doesn't matter to us whether you are a large
or small client. Our clients come in all sizes and we value
them all.
Sure there are times when size does matter.
If we don’t have the resources to meet your needs or
if the work is in another field then we will tell you. We
will select from our list of other lawyers who we hold in
high regard in that area and refer you to them.
If we take on your case but it involves
a particularly difficult issue where only an expert in that
field can give advice (and we don't have that expertise) –
then we seek that advice from the barrister or expert solicitor
of choice. In this way our clients get the same Big Firm professional
service – but in a local small firm environment.
And we subscribe to professional library
resources over the Internet that are so large that the books
wouldn’t even fit within our building.
Our History
The practice was first established at Morphett Vale in 1974.
Andrew Rogers bought the practice in 1980. In October, 2000
we celebrated our 20 years in the practice.
Andrew's great great grandparents Alexander
and Barbara Anderson settled in Morphett Vale in 1838. Their
home "Mosgiel" still stands in Flaxmill Road.
Andrew is a graduate of the University of
Adelaide and is also a Notary Public.
The firm has a policy of community involvement
and assists a variety of local groups.
